Breakroom Exercise, (Groups of 3)

1. In general do you feel you are neutral, silent, or apathetic in racial situations? Why?

2. Identify a specific racial situation you stayed neutral or silent in or remained apathetic.

3. What was the outcome of your decision, that you noticed (being that we may not always know the consequences of our actions or inactions)?

4. Would you like to change your response and take a stand? Why or why not?

5. Who benefits from

   • your ability to empathize or sympathize?

   • you choosing to take a stand and/or speak up?

   • you choosing to remain apathetic, neutral or silent?
